Castleford Tigers Honour Club Legend Arthur Atkinson

Castleford Tigers are proud to announce that restoration work has been carried out on the memorial stone of club legend Arthur 'Bruss' Atkinson at The Parish Church of All Saints, Castleford.

As part of the club's commitment to celebrating its rich history during our Centenary year, Castleford Tigers arranged for a local stonemason to carefully clean and restore Atkinson's memorial stone, ensuring it continues to stand as a fitting tribute to one of the greatest players ever to wear the famous black and amber.

A Castleford Tigers Hall of Fame inductee, Atkinson made 431 appearances for the club between 1925 and 1940, captaining the Tigers during one of the most successful periods in the club's history. He led Castleford to Challenge Cup glory in 1935, lifting the famous trophy at Wembley, while also representing both England and Great Britain during an outstanding playing career.

Widely regarded as one of the club's all-time greats, Atkinson's legacy continues to inspire generations of players and supporters alike.

The restoration of his memorial stone reflects the club's ongoing commitment to preserving the history of Castleford Tigers and ensuring the achievements of those who helped shape the club are remembered for years to come.
