JOHNSON PENS TWO YEAR CAS DEAL

Castleford Tigers are delighted to announce the signing of Alfie Johnson from Halifax Panthers for the 2027 season and beyond. The 25 year old pens a two year deal with the club to bring him to The OneBore Stadium. 

A stand out performer for the Championship side, Johnson began his career as a Rugby Sevens Professional, representing England and Great Britain before getting his shot in Rugby League. Scouted by Leeds Rhinos before signing with Warrington in 2025, he made a trying scoring debut for the Wolves against Wakefield Trinity. 

Alfie spent time on loan with London Broncos and Widnes Vikings before making a permanent mid season move to Halifax to secure more playing time. Johnson continued his development scoring 12 tries in 18 appearances at The Shay, leading to interest from Super League clubs. 

A centre or winger with speed, agility and also dangerous in the air, Johnson was pleased to be given the opportunity to return to Super League with the Tigers.

Tigers Head Coach Ryan Carr was happy to add Johnson to his ranks for next season: "It’s great to have Alfie joining us in 27. He’s only just at the beginning of his Rugby League journey and we know there is a lot of growth and untapped potential in him. He brings a unique skill set to our team and we are excited to add that to our playing group."

Director of Rugby Chris Chester continued: "I’ve watched Alfie all season at Halifax and for me he’s been the standout outside back in that competition. 
I know that under Carry we can take his game to a whole new level. Alfie can play both wing and centre, he has a great yardage carry and possesses an unbelievable turn of foot."
