Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Summer Camps at The OneBore Stadium

Free and low cost holiday provision for children and families across Castleford
Castleford Tigers Foundation is delighted to be working once again with Wakefield Council to deliver the Department for Education (DfE) Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme this summer. Our HAF camps at The OneBore Stadium provide high quality, fun and inclusive holiday provision for children aged 5–11, supporting families with free or low cost childcare throughout the school break.
This year’s programme will run across multiple dates during the summer holidays and includes a brilliant mix of sports, games, creative activities and enrichment, all delivered by our qualified Foundation coaching team.
What children can expect at our HAF Camps
Every day at our HAF camps is designed to be active, enjoyable and supportive. Children will take part in:
- Fun sports sessions and movement activities
- Rugby league skills and team games
- Creative challenges and enrichment activities
- Social time with friends in a safe, welcoming environment
- A nutritious lunch, provided free of charge
Our camps are suitable for all abilities - whether your child loves sport or simply wants to try something new in a friendly, supportive setting.
Exciting extras for all participants
This summer, every child attending our HAF camps will receive:
- A free ticket to the Castleford Tigers vs Catalans Dragons fixture on Friday 28th August
- A family activity as part of the programme
- The chance to meet Castleford Tigers first team players
These added extras help create memorable experiences for children and families, strengthening their connection to sport, community and the club.
Who can access HAF places?
The HAF programme is funded by the Department for Education to support children and young people who receive benefits?related Free School Meals (FSM). Families who meet this criteria can access our camps completely free of charge.
We also offer a limited number of affordable paid places for families who do not receive FSM, ensuring as many children as possible can benefit from high?quality holiday provision.
About the national HAF programme
The Department for Education (DfE) Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) Programme is a government?funded initiative providing free holiday clubs during Easter, Summer and Christmas for school?aged children (Reception to Year 11) who are eligible for benefits?related Free School Meals.
The programme aims to:
- Provide healthy food each day
- Offer physical activity and movement
- Deliver enriching activities such as sport, arts, music, drama, cooking, STEM and outdoor learning
- Support nutrition education for children and families
HAF also helps reduce holiday hunger, prevent social isolation, improve wellbeing and support parents with free childcare during school holidays.
For Castleford Tigers Foundation, HAF is an opportunity to use the power of sport to engage children and young people, ensuring they have access to nutritious food, enriching experiences and positive role models - particularly those who may otherwise miss out due to financial hardship.
