Foundation Secures £50,000 from National Lottery Million Hours Fund to support young people in castleford central & glasshoughton

Castleford Tigers Foundation are delighted to announce we have been awarded £50,000 from the Million Hours Fund, enabling the charity to expand its work with children and young people across the Castleford Central and Glasshoughton area.

This significant investment is helping the Foundation deliver safe, positive and engaging activities for young people, particularly during evenings and school holidays - times when access to structured opportunities can make the biggest difference.

New Youth Club Sessions Launching

As part of this programme, the Foundation will launch its new Youth Club sessions on Tuesday 23rd June, running every Tuesday and Thursday from 5pm to 8pm. These sessions will provide a safe, welcoming and engaging space for young people to take part in sport, creative activities, social opportunities and personal development.

Anyone interested in attending, or wanting more information on how to register, can contact: foundation@castigers.com

What the Funding Has Enabled

Funding from the Million Hours Fund has helped us to:

  • Increase the number of youth sessions we deliver in Castleford Central & Glasshoughton
  • Provide more free and low?cost sport, physical activity and creative opportunities for young people
  • Create safe spaces where young people can build confidence, develop new skills and connect with positive role models
  • Strengthen our work around reducing antisocial behaviour by offering meaningful alternatives and consistent support
  • Expand our outreach, ensuring more young people feel part of the Tigers family and the wider community

This funding is already having a visible impact, supporting the Foundation’s mission to inspire young people, improve wellbeing, and strengthen community pride through the power of rugby league.

Amy Hardman, Foundation Manager, Castleford Tigers Foundation

“We are delighted to be working with the National Lottery Million Hours Fund to strengthen youth provision here in Castleford. This support has enabled us to employ a new Youth Leader and we are pleased to welcome Sue Dean to the team. Sue brings a wealth of experience in running successful youth programmes, and her passion for supporting young people will be invaluable as we expand our offer.

Young people are the future of tomorrow, so it’s vital that we create opportunities where they feel safe, heard and able to develop the skills they need to thrive. This funding allows us to do exactly that and we’re incredibly grateful for the impact it will have across our community.”
