REPORT: York RLFC Knights v Castleford Tigers

The Tigers returned to winning ways with a 24-18 victory over York RLFC Knights at the LNER Community Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
After just a few minutes, a penalty and a scrum for a knock-on gave Cas great field position, and George Hirst crashed over for an easy score - but York soon made the most of a mistake to level things through King Vuniyayawa.
However, back-to-back penalties for offside gave us a chance to retake the lead, and Tom Weaver kicked a penalty goal to put us 6-4 ahead.
Great play from the halves, PLT, Mapapalangi and Jason Qareqare saw the latter score with an acrobatic finish on the left to move Cas ahead by six.
However, following a penalty at the play-the-ball, York were in on the last, with Sam Wood touching down after a looping pass to the right was batted back.
They were in down the right again before long, as Scott Galeano put the Knights in front for the first time.
At the end of a sloppy first half, York were ahead by six.
HALF-TIME: York RLFC Knights 18-12 Castleford Tigers
A good Captain’s Challenge gave the Tigers an attacking set on the York line, and Renouf Atoni crashed over with an excellent effort, following good play from Golding, to keep us within touching distance.
Brock Greacen scored a similar try, following good play from Cain Robb at dummy-half, and a Weaver penalty kick soon later pushed Cas to six ahead.
A yellow card for George Hirst threatened to give the home side a chance to bring things level, but strong defence kept them scoreless in the second half, and gave Cas a victory in front of a fantastic away end.
