Tigers sign Phoenix Laulu-Togaga'e

Castleford Tigers are delighted to announce the immediate signing of English back Phoenix Laulu-Togaga'e, on a three-and-a-half year deal.

Primarily a full-back, he has also played a number of games on the wing, and has shown his versatility by playing in every position from 1-7 when needed.

He made his Super League debut in 2022, against Castleford, and went on to make a number of appearances towards the backend of that campaign, even slotting in at half-back in a 36-4 victory over Hull FC.

This season, he has made seven appearances for the Dragons, scoring three tries in a short spell in Catalonia before linking up with Ryan Carr's side.

His father, Quentin, also played for the Tigers, scoring six tries in nine appearances for the club, and also made over 200 appearances for the Sheffield Eagles.

On joining the Tigers, Laulu-Togaga'e said: "I'm really excited to be joining Cas.

It's great to be back home and closer to my family, and following in my dad's footsteps playing for this club.

"Personally, I just want to bring energy and hard work in everything that I do.

"I'll always give 100% and hopefully add something to the group, both on and off the field."

Tigers Director of Rugby, Chris Chester, said: "Phoenix is a quality young player who became available late on last week. 

"He can play in a number of positions in the back line and we will use him primarily at full-back to cover the loss of Blake Taaffe. 

"He’s quick, agile and has great footwork at the line.

"I’m really looking forward to seeing him play in the black and amber colours."
