IN CONVERSATION: Jason Qareqare

Jason Qareqare is relishing a fresh start in 2026, with injuries elsewhere giving him an opportunity to showcase his talent at the start of the campaign under Ryan Carr.
The winger has developed an excellent partnership with new recruit Krystian Mapapalangi, and has already shown his talents with both running and try-scoring.
We caught up with him ahead of our Challenge Cup tie with St Helens.
Q: How have the squad found the start of the season?
A: It’s been a tough start for us but I think week on week we are improving massively as a team. There have been good glimpses throughout the past few games but we need to turn them glimpses into wins. We’re a new team so everything isn’t going to be perfect but I have full faith that we can push on this year!
Q: How do you feel you've improved this year vs previous seasons?
A: I feel a big improvement in my game compared to previous seasons definitely. There were a few improvements that we decided I needed to work on during pre season with the help of the coaching team and I feel like it’s coming to fruition.
Q: How are you finding your partnership with Krystian Mapapalangi?
A: Maps has been immense since he’s come over. He came on the week of Doncaster and we had to build a connection instantly. We’ve got similar personalities and interests so I think that helps off and on the field!
Q: What are your personal goals this year?
A: For me this year is just about playing as many games as possible injury-free. I haven’t had a full year of playing due to injuries so that would be my main goal for me.
