Foundation project Offload to start in Airedale

OFFLOAD, a free initiative for boys and young men aged 16–24, will begin on Friday 23 January, running from 1–3pm at The Hut in Airedale. The programme is designed for those who are not currently in education, employment or training (NEET) and who may be feeling isolated or disconnected.
Co-created with young men from Wigan and Wakefield, OFFLOAD is an adaptation of the independently evaluated programme first developed by Rugby League Cares in 2016. The refreshed programme reflects the real-life experiences and challenges facing young people today, with a strong focus on mental wellbeing, confidence and connection.
The six-week programme consists of six two-hour sessions, combining physical activity with practical workshops focused on mental fitness, teamwork and life skills. Sessions are delivered in a relaxed, no-pressure environment, giving participants a safe space to talk, connect and build positive routines.

Workshops will be led by rugby league legends Keith Senior and Adrian Morley, alongside trained former professional players who act as facilitators and mentors.
OFFLOAD is delivered in partnership with local rugby league club foundations including Wigan Warriors, Wakefield Trinity, Castleford Tigers and Featherstone Rovers, using the power of the sport and club environments to inspire engagement and participation.
By the end of the programme, participants will have developed practical tools to support their mental wellbeing, strengthened their confidence, and built connections that can help them contribute positively to their communities.
