Castleford Tigers are pleased to announce that 10 Academy players have signed 2-year contracts with the club, with a 3rd year option in the club’s favour.

They have all proven and shown why they are worthy of their deals, 8 of whom coming through the scholarship system, and featuring for the reserves while Daniel Sarbah and Denver Millington have come through an alternative route.

Sarbah and Millington joined the Tigers College system and were part of the back-to-back trophy-winning side. From there, they have joined the academy system over the last couple of years, and have continued to progress and have been rewarded with deals.

Head of Youth Development, Rob Nickolay said, “I’m massively proud! We’re building for the future and we’re committing to these boys and they are committing to us as a club. They’ve worked hard to get to this point, and the proof is in the pudding in what they are doing on the field.”

“They’ve all got their strengths and areas of development. Looking at them as a group, they’ve grown up together, a lot coming through the Scholarship programme, with two joining through the College pathway.”

“There is a lot of development to go. We want to slowly see more of these players drip feeding into the First Team environment over the coming years. You see Fletcher Rooney last year getting his debut in Super League and more recently George Hill. That’s what we are about. There is a longer term project and we want players to come through our system and know what it means to play for Castleford.”
