Huddersfield got the game underway kicking off towards the Wheldon Road but safe hands from Danny Richardson allowed the Tigers to begin.

The first chance came for the Giants as Matty English broke through the line but a good tackle by Luke Hooley stopped him in his tracks. A stray pass followed but former Castleford man Elliot Wallis spilled the ball into touch.

6 minutes in Luke Yates was then sent to the bin for a high shot.

A long spell of possession for the Tigers followed, however the Giants remained strong and kept the scores level.

Cas claimed the ball back via Jason Qareqare and battled to get into the Huddersfield half but an error from George Lawler gave the visitors great field position.

A tidy kick from Adam Clune nearly then caused a few issues but skipper Paul McShane pounced on a loose ball to give Cas the ball back. Danny Richardson looked to give Cas the advantage with a 40/20 attempt, but the ball just rolled short.

Fast hands from Cas’ right edge nearly gave Cas the first points of the day but a knock on from Jason Qareqare meant the chance went begging.

Another 40/20 attempt from Danny Richardson left the Tigers defending again as the ball bounced out on the full.

Huddersfield shipped the ball over to the racing Adam Swift but Jason Qareqare was there to put him into touch.

Innes Senior brushed past Elliot Wallis on the wing but scrambling defence from Huddersfield saved the day putting him into touch.

Senior got his own back however as Wallis looked to go over in the corner, but the Tigers number 5 put him over the whitewash.

Adam Swift looked to go over in the corner but once again Jason Qareqare was there to force the error.

Danny Richardson hoped to pass the ball to Liam Watts for him to crash over before the half, but the ball spilled free. The referee then blew for the half with both sides being scoreless and being all square.

Luke Hooley got us underway for the second half and cleverly Josh Simm claimed the ball, throwing an ambitious offload before being put into touch, the pass was collected but the Tigers managed to force a goal line drop out.

Liam Watts gave Cas the advantage 4 minutes into the second half after a quick play of the ball allowed McShane to play quickly and find the prop forward.

2 minutes went and Cas were on the scoresheet after classy play to the wing found Jason Qareqare who passed inside to Jacob Miller, the halfback with an audacious flick pass found centre Sam Wood who crashed over.

56 minutes into the game the Tigers were caught in defence as Swift dived into the corner to add Huddersfield’s first points on the board.

2 minutes later Cas gave the perfect response as a looping pass from Luke Hooley found Josh Simm who dived in the corner to put Tigers 12 points ahead.

The tries kept coming for the Tigers as Sam Wood burst through the line from a Hooley pass as he dotted down for his second of the day.

With 15 minutes to go Jake Connor had a scare as a Jack Broadbent grubber kick dabbled into the in-goal area but the fullback was there to kick the ball dead.

Olly Russell found touch with a 40/20 attempt giving the Giants possession once again. This was then followed up by silky skill by substitute George Flanagan Jr who found Connor Carr in the corner with his first touch of the ball.

Sloppy play from Cas led the ball going to floor, former Tiger Elliot Wallis was there to scoop up the loose ball and race 50 metres.

George Flanagan Jr added the extras and with that, the referee blew for full time and the Tigers claimed the victory against the Giants.
