Jy Hitchcox signed a 12-month contract with Castleford Tigers joining from local neighbours Featherstone Rovers at the start of 2016. After previously played only a few games for West Tigers in the NRL, Hitchcox made the move to England. Hitchcox is a versatile player who can cover a few different positions in Daryl Powell’s squad. The flying winger made a dream debut grabbing two tries away at Hull FC after being a last minute call up to the squad. Hitchcox’s 2016 was ruined by injury and only limited the winger to 9 games in which he scored 7 tries. A continuation of a bad knee injury saw Hitchcox out of action until June 2017. He returned to play 10 games for the Tigers scoring 3 tries and appearing in the Super League Grand Final.
