In Autumn the delayed Rugby League World Cup 2021 will take place, with the men’s, women’s and wheelchair tournaments taking place together. All 61 games will be across England between October 15th & 19th November.

Head Coach of Fiji Joe Dakuitoga has named his initial 50-man training squad in preparation for the World Cup, with Fijian-born Jason Qareqare one of six Super League players that have been included.

King Vuniyayawa from Salford, Korbin Sims of Hull KR, and a trio of Hull FC players in Chris Satae, Joe Lovodua, and Kane Eavns have also made the squad, which also features NRL stars.

Fiji will take on the World Cup holders Australia in Leeds, before two matches in Newcastle against Scotland and Italy in their group stage of the competition.

The Tigers’ youngster has enjoyed a successful start to life as a Super League player, marking his debut with one of Super League’s most memorable tries scoring inside a minute, before doing the same last month against St Helens. Qareqare has committed the next two years to Castleford Tigers with a contract extension, he was also named in the Yorkshire Academy Origin series squad and has six top-flight tries this season in seven appearances.
