Castleford Tigers under 19’s gained their third back-to-back victory defeating Hull KR by 26 points to 14.

Hull KR got the game underway, and the tempo was set from the start by the Tigers. Nathan Magee received the ball on the left edge and his delayed pass drew the defender, giving Caelum Jordan the time to pick out Mackenzie Scurr who sailed over in the corner.

Castleford looked to push for a second inside twenty minutes but a well-anticipated interception from the Robins drove the home side up the pitch and looked to be in were it not for Milthorpe and Scurr’s defensive cover.

Rovers kept knocking on the door but a resilient Castleford defence began to frustrate them. Cas made good use of their set driving the ball up the field and Ben Wood spotted a narrow gap which the substitute broke through, and sprinted towards the posts for the Tigers’ second try. Caelum Jordan added the extra two points.

As the first half came to a close, the Robins scooted over from close range making the score 4 points to 10.

Moments into the second half Castleford were in for the third time. A wonderful juking run by Rusling duped the Rovers defender and a pop pass to Sam Hall allowed the forward to go over. Caelum Jordan made no mistake in adding the extras.

It didn’t take long for Hull KR to bounce back through Tate who finished off a smart move on the left edge. Lawton was accurate in front of the posts closing the deficit up to six points.

Within minutes Castleford piled the pressure back down their right edge and it was Mackenzie Scurr who added his second try of the match.

Around the hour mark, Hull KR once again responded. A powerful burst by debutant Barley broke through two Tigers tackles and the youngster crashed over.

The winning margin was back to six for Cas but they continued to press for more. Sam Hall made a huge break through the line but his efforts were cut short following a remarkable KR defensive tackle.

A try had been coming for the Fords and two minutes from the final whistle they were in. Nathan Magee extended the lead after his barging run led him to the line. Caelum Jordan added the extras, finalising the score to a 14-26 victory to the Tigers.
