Youth Coaching & Talent ID Opportunities

Castleford Tigers currently have opportunities to work within the club’s Youth Development Department.

  • COACHING OPPORTUNITY - TIGERS TALENT PATHWAY

Castleford Tigers are looking to recruit coaches to support the club's delivery on the Tigers Talent Pathway programme.

Aligned to the RFL’s England Talent Pathway, the programme aims to increase the number of quality 12-14-year-old+ Rugby League players through high-quality coaching. Castleford Tigers provide an ideal environment to support coaches by offering access to unique CPD opportunities and mentoring by experienced coaches from the Castleford Tigers Youth Development and Performance Structure. These coaching roles are ideal for coaches wanting to improve their coaching practice in a community club setting and/or have aspirations to progress on the club's coaching pathway.

Person specification:

  • Able to engage with a wide range of people.
  • Current full DBS check and Safeguarding children certificate.
  • Recognised NGB coaching certificate.
  • Self–motivated with a desire to learn and improve.
  • Passionate about coaching, inspiring and developing young players.
  • Reliable with good time management.

  • TALENT IDENTIFICATION OPPORTUNITIES

Castleford Tigers are looking to appoint a small number of dynamic and committed Talent Identification Scouts to work within the club's Youth Development Department.

Notes for candidates

The main purpose of the role for this small number of Talent Identification Scouts is to identify athletes with the potential to progress up the Rugby League player pathway to international and Super League standards.

You will have a background in either Rugby League coaching or talent identification. In addition, you will also have a good knowledge and understanding of the pre-requisites for elite performance in rugby league. Candidates will also need to be organised and effective communicators in the assessment, recording, and reporting of prospective players. You will be required to interact with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders including coaches, team managers, teachers. The successful candidates will be provided with information and training on the RFL rules on Talent Identification, dates of key windows for identifying players, and the philosophy behind Castleford Tigers recruitment. This role will be subject to a DBS check.

Candidates are welcome from across the Yorkshire region and are asked to acknowledge which of the following environments they are able to observe on a weekly basis.

Yorkshire Juniors Rugby League fixtures – Saturday and/or Sunday mornings 

  • National Conference fixtures – Saturday afternoons
  • Yorkshire men’s and Pennine fixtures – Saturday afternoons
  • Junior Rugby Union fixtures – Saturday and or Sunday mornings
  • School Rugby League and other sports – midweek
