The official charity partner of the Tigers, The Prince of Wales Hospice offers care for patients in the local area with life-limiting illnesses such as motor neurone disease, cancer, chronic heart, and lung failure.

Fundraising Manager at the Hospice, Jill Kirkham was thrilled with the money raised and commented: “As a Hospice, we are totally overwhelmed by the success of this event knowing that the £8,955.00 raised will pay for more than one full day of running costs at the Hospice, and for that, we cannot thank Castleford Tigers and their commercial partners enough.”

Head of Commercial Partnerships at Castleford Tigers, Craig Jeffels was delighted with the news and wanted to thank the club’s fantastic commercial family.

“I would like to say a huge thank you to all my colleagues and club partners that took part in a very tough Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, and to those that generously donated to the cause.

“We had some fantastic support along the way, and we are proud to have raised nearly £9000 for The Prince of Wales Hospice which is based in Pontefract. To put it into perspective how important this money will be to the Hospice, it takes over £5,000 each day, in addition to NHS funding, for the Hospice to continue operating their outstanding care.”

“A special thanks to Jamie from Brebur, Jade & Jason at Xscape Yorkshire and Ciaran on behalf of Hannafin who managed to convince a large number of their staff, friends, and family to take on the challenge. As always Jill & Becky from the hospice were there throughout cheering us on and supplying much-needed refreshments, so a huge thank you to them also for such a well-organised event.

“If you are a local business reading this story and you want to make a difference to a charity that is close to a lot of people’s hearts within our community, I encourage you to get in touch and get involved. Especially in times like these, we all need to pull together and support our local charities.”
