Jesse can’t wait to be back at The Jungle

After making his first appearance of the season Jesse Sene-Lefao is buzzing to be back and can’t wait to play at home.

Round Six did not end the way the 30-year-old forward was hoping after a last-minute drop goal gave Warrington Wolves a 9-8 victory. Jesse returned to match action for the first time following a quad injury suffered in a pre-season match and had been working hard to get back in contention as he discussed with castlefordtigers.com.

“It’s been pretty weird I’ve been training and getting ready to come back from my injury and then finally getting my opportunity was awesome, but it didn’t finish the way I wanted it to,” he said.

“I guess I got what I wanted; a real tough, hard battle and coming to Warrington it’s always like that but losing by one point is tough.”

JSL is not the type of player who rests on his laurels, nor does he focus too much on the negatives following a defeat as he insists that the Tigers will pose a good threat against the teams to come.

“We’ve got a lot to work on but if we put a bit more of our game together, I think that we can be more dangerous for the future.

“We kind of slipped into the way that they probably wanted the game to be played and we didn’t play the way that we wanted to but, credit to them while we played poor by our own standards they got the two points and we go home with nothing. We’ll review and fix up mistakes from this one and hopefully put it right against St Helens.”

All eyes now turn to next Sunday’s match against the 2019 Super League champions at The Mend-A-Hose Jungle, so far Castleford have won two-from-two in their home matches with battling wins over Wigan Warriors and local neighbours Wakefield Trinity.

Jesse had to pause to remember the last time he played in front of the Wheldon Road crowd, but he is eager to perform in front of Cas faithful against St Helens.

“I can’t wait to play at home, when was the last time I played at The Jungle… Toronto in Shenny’s testimonial, that seems ages ago.

“It’s going to be good to get back home it’s more familiar and I just hope that everyone will come down to the ground to support us against the Saints.”
