The Castleford Tigers Foundation have launched a new scheme, ‘Tigers Rewards’, designed to incentivise a great attitude, extra effort or improved attendance for school children across the district.

Pupils and students demonstrating these qualities will be eligible to receive their “Tigers Reward” and attend a selected Tigers home game free of charge, courtesy of one free adult and child ticket.

To be in with a chance to earn their tickets, pupils are simply asked to do their best, try hard, and demonstrate a great positive attitude in all aspects of school life. Winners will be chosen by their teachers, fellow pupils or even Foundation community coaches.

Community Director Simon Fox was enthusiastic about the success of the programme after its launch at Airedale Academy, where eight pupils with an outstanding 95% or higher attendance throughout the academic year, received the very first Tigers Rewards tickets on behalf of the student body. All students eligible will now be in with a chance to win these tickets through an attendance draw next week.

“As a Foundation we are here to support our communities and help people aspire, dream and achieve. There are an increasing number of young people in the area that have worked tremendously hard, shown a great attitude and gone the extra mile both in school and out of school. Tigers Rewards, is a massive ‘well done and thank you’ to those pupils by way of an invite to a Tigers home game to meet their heroes, receive a special certificate and have a great time watching the team in action. We also invite them to bring along parent or adult to help them celebrate and enjoy their success.

Airedale Academy are the first school we have offered this unique scheme to and they have been a very welcoming partner. The students in the school are a real credit to the area, the school and themselves. We look forward to welcoming their pupils to the MAH Jungle to enjoy their ‘Tigers Reward’”

Attending the programme launch was Airedale Academy Assistant Principal, James Podlewski, who reflected on the togetherness that the Castleford Tigers name can promote, and how it can help the children, their families, and the schools.

“Every adult and child around here, they’re united by the same thing which is their love of Castleford Tigers, so the fact that Castleford Tigers Foundation are giving us the opportunity to be the first school to be onboard with their rewards scheme is fantastic for us, because I know, that as soon as the families get wind of this, they going to be all over this and wanting to be involved.”

“The biggest thing for us, is we want the children in school and if we can offer them something that is going to reward both the students in school and their families, it works for us and I’m sure it will work for Castleford Tigers as well.”
