The Adam Watene Trophy

On Friday night The Tigers and Trinity will locked in one of Yorkshires fiercest derbies as they battle for the right to hold the Adam Watene trophy currently held by the Fords hands. The two teams last contested the title in April 2019 which saw Cas edge their opponents 28-26 in a tight battle at The Jungle. The trophy honours former Castleford and Wakefield prop, and “gentle giant” Adam Watene, who sadly passed away in 2008 from a heart attack.

#BraggingRights are on the line!

With just eight miles separating the sides Wakefield have always been our “nearest and dearest” rivals. The Tigers came out on top at both The Jungle and The Mobile Rocket Stadium last season, with a 28-26 home victory and a 36-16 win on the road. The Tigers aren’t guaranteed an easy win however, as Trinity may only be sat 9th in the table but came back fighting last weekend to pull of the shock of the round with a 18-8 win against Challenge Cup holders Warrington.

Holmes' 200th game for Cas!

Oggy has been a great servant to the club, coming through the youth ranks and ultimately making his first team debut a decade ago in 2010. The second rower was a Challenge Cup finalist in 2014 and helped the team lift the League Leaders Shield in 2017. The veteran forward made his England debut a year later with a 44-6 victory over France. We look forward to congratulating Oliver on Friday night and hoping he can make the night a memorable one with a Castleford victory!

Friday Night Lights

Just short of a fortnight ago, The Jungle was packed out when the Tigers downed their Wigan rivals in a gritty 16-12 win. Daryl Powell’s side rarely put a foot wrong against The Cherry and White, with young prospect Sam Hall impressing on his debut. The game on Friday night will be under the lights once again and The Tigers will be looking to boast Bragging Rights between the two sides.

Community Takeover

As well as Wakefield Trinity The Jungle will also play host to Normanton Knights on Friday in the season’s second community takeover. Nearly 100 young Knights will be involved throughout the evening waving their black and amber flags, make sure to give them a roar of support!
