Salford Squad Announced

Daryl Powell has named his 19-man squad to face Salford Red Devils.
Castleford Tigers welcome Salford Red Devils to the Mend-A-Hose Jungle on Sunday 17th March.
Powell has made just one change to his 19-man squad with Oliver Holmes returning from a shoulder injury that has kept him out so far in 2019. Cory Aston drops out with him likely to be involved with Newcastle Thunder after joining the side on loan this week.
Holmes had surgery after the close of the 2018 season which saw the second rower tour Papua New Guinea with England Knights.
Salford will be heading to the Jungle full of confidence after their impressive victory in the south of France after dominating Catalans Dragons.
Powell has taken positives from the Tigers injury problems after the impressive performances from Jacques O’Neill and Tuoyo Egodo: “We’ve been a little bit light on troops and light of some pretty good players who have been missing for various reasons. When that happens young players do get opportunities and Jacques O’Neill has come in and the pace of the game last week against Warrington was a bit of a shock for him I think but he knows what it is about now that’s for sure. Tuoyo Egodo’s also managed to play a lot of minutes as well. It’s been tough the past couple of weeks but it gives opportunities to people and then your squad gets a little bit bigger which is always great.”
Coming into the game against the Red Devils, Powell knows it will be a tough challenge: “I think they’ve been a good side for a while now and a much better one since they started signing with a bit more stability in mind. They’ve got a really good coach there and I think he’s done a high quality job there. They’ve just been and tore Catalans apart. They have some good players in their ranks, Lussick is a good nine and the pack is really strong. Hastings running is challenging defences and he’s pretty smart as well. I think him and Lui are playing well at half back.”
Tickets for Sunday’s game are still available at the Tigers Den and Castleford Tigers Sport Super Store as well as online.
