Update on Gale and salary cap

Castleford Tigers can confirm that the RFL have granted the club salary cap relief in light of Luke Gale’s season ending injury.
Gale suffered a ruptured Achilles tendon in training over the weekend and has now undergone surgery, with the club applying to the RFL for dispensation to reuse Luke's salary cap value during the 2019 season.
Castleford Tigers’ Director of Rugby Jon Wells said: “Salary cap relief has now been granted to the club and we’d like to thank the RFL for working with us on this matter.
“It’s a facility that’s been made available to us but I stress that at this time it’s not one we have made use of.
“Daryl has plenty of options available to him within our existing squad and it’s now up to the players concerned to put their best foot forward in staking a claim for a half spot in 2019.
“I spoke to Luke this morning and he told me the operation went well and the surgeon was very pleased with the results.
“Luke still has a lot to offer the Tigers this season but our wish for him in the short term is that he puts his feet up, switches off from rugby for a while and enjoys some time recuperating at home with his young family."
