College of Rugby League
The Castleford Tigers College of Rugby League will launch in September 2018 and will offer both boys & girls a first-class education in sport alongside the opportunity of training and playing Rugby League in a professional environment.

The launch of the Castleford Tigers College of Rugby League is great news for aspiring young Rugby League players in West Yorkshire and the surrounding areas as it will provide an additional phase in the Castleford Tigers development pathway. The male scholars will have the opportunity to represent Castleford Tigers Category 3 Academy which will compete in the National College Rugby League competition, while the female scholars will have the opportunity to join the Castleford Tigers Women’s Super League development squad. Players will benefit from a professional player development programme consisting of weekly training sessions, strength and conditioning coaching and competitive fixtures, all under the leadership of highly qualified Rugby League coaches.

Alongside the player development programme, the students will study the BTEC Level 3 National Extended Diploma in Sport Performance and Excellence. This two year qualification is the equivalent to three A-Levels and provides students with a valuable insight into the variety of subjects within the sporting industry. Physiology, psychology, nutrition and fitness testing are just some of the Rugby League related subject areas that will be explored. The practical sessions (Rugby League Training) will take place at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle & the nearby 3G pitch facility at the Glasshoughton Centre, with our Strength and Conditioning sessions also be taking place here at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle with the clubs professional conditioning team in the Tigers very own gym.
