Roman Festival this Sunday

Head along to Castleford town centre this weekend to enjoy the Roman festival.
Castleford’s Roman festival takes place on Sunday 11th September 10am till 4pm. The Roman festival will celebrate our town’s rich Roman heritage with a range of fun, exciting and educational activities – with a modern day twist.
Keep a look out and you might spot some of our Castleford Tigers players too!
The family-friendly and free activities* will include:
- Live interactive shows within the ‘Grande Arena’ on Henry Moore Square.
- Family workshops.
- Living history demonstrations.
- Live street entertainment.
- Interactive games.
- Face painting.
- Balloon modelling.
Art competition – create your own Roman shield!
Download your competition poster and design your own Roman sheild..Youngsters can enter the Roman shield competition, with the winning design to be used to promote next year’s festival.
To take part simply print off the poster and design your shield. You can then hand your entry in at any Wakefield district market from 20 August to 6 September, or post it to:

All entries will be displayed in the Grande Arena on the day of the festival. The winner will be selected at 3.30pm on the day, and will be contacted after the festival.
