Carney set for 6-8 week lay off

The Easter period has taken it's toll, with injuries galore here at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle.
Justin Carney saw his consultant yesterday following the horrific elbow injury, picked up during the Tigers 25-4 win over Hull KR on Saturday. with the results being the best possible scenario:
"Justin needs an operation and will be out for six to eight weeks," said Powell.
"It's tough to take but is probably the best case scenario we could have expected and hope to get a key strike weapon back asap."
With a whole host of first team players currently on the side lines here's an update on their progress:
Mike McMeeken – Hamstring strain, should be back in the next few weeks.
James Clare – Potentially back this weekend.
Luke Dorn – Grade 2 hamstring tear – 3-5 weeks recovery remaining.
Junior Moors – Pretty good news from his recent scan and he should be back in a few weeks hopefully.
Matt Cook – Had an operations on Wednesday on his ankle and were looking at a 6-8 week recovery.
Denny Solomona – should be back next week or the following week.
Jake Webster – should be available for selection this weekend.
Powell is quick to commend the strength in depth within his squad this season:
"Dorn and Cook’s injuries were both worst case scenarios but luckily for us the boys that are coming in are doing a great job. Frankie Mariano and Lee Jewitt both returned last week after long lay offs and looked like they’d never been away, which was great for us.”
Powell stresses there is still so much more to come from the Tigers:
"Against Warrington and Hull KR we looked the fresher team in both those games. Our toughness and willingness to work for each other is commendable. We haven’t been the best with the ball but our defence has been superb, I think we’ve missed the least tackles in Super League and that shows a massive amount of work rate and honestly within the team, I’m really pleased with lots of elements but there is lots of improvement to come."
Next up the Tigers travel to Widnes Vikings this Sunday with a 3.00pm kick off. Tickets are still available to purchase from the Tigers Den club shop, with a few seats still remaining on the official Castleford Tigers supporters bus.
